Principal's Message

Welcome Back BHSWCA Family!

I hope everyone is as anxious and ready, as I am, to get back into action and welcome our 2023-24 school year. We are approaching this school year with high expectations of learning and academic success. I am anticipating our young people will return with that gleam in their eyes and excitement in their step.  We will look to this year’s senior class, The Class of 2024, for leadership and guidance, setting the tone for the rest of the student body. The beginning of the year is met with great anticipation by the entire BHSWCA faculty, highly qualified and committed professionals all, eager to once again, support the academic and emotional development of our students.

As always, our curriculum is designed to prepare students for the next step in their academic careers, cultivating as close to a college experience as possible. We are committed to providing a learning community in which instruction is student-centered, innovative, and practical.

BHSWCA believes, as our mission states:

The administrators, teachers, and staff of the Bronx High School for Writing and Communication Arts (BHSWCA) pledge to create a community of life-long learners, readers, and writers who use the written word as our vehicle to explore our world and know ourselves.”

The faculty and I have spent the entire summer getting ready for the first day of school and the days to come; with this mission at the core of our preparation. We at BHSWCA recognize the importance of a productive partnership with parents and guardians. We will continue to foster our relationships with our students’ families, emphasizing constant home and school support. As the statistics show, our children greatly benefit from your contributions to school programs and their operations. This thinking has proven, over the years, to be the catalyst for all the wonderful accomplishments we’ve enjoyed here at the school.

I am privileged to be a part of this school family! We thank you for your ongoing support and look forward to working as a team once more. I continue to encourage anyone in the community to email me personally at Cpierre10@schools.nyc.gov with any questions or suggestions.  I am so happy to be here, and I am excited to share this incredible high school journey with you!

I look forward to seeing your children on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 8 a.m. for the first day of school.

In partnership,

Principal Pierre
